GENERAL CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION
All competitions will be played under the Rules of Golf published by R and A Limited in additional to
the Local and Competition Rules of Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club.
ENTRIES
Entries will open:
•8 weeks before Club Championships and Club Senior Championship
•5 weeks for the major cups
•4 weeks for all other competitions
•14 days for all-day competitions.
For the Championships and majors, players will play between the allocated times. NO start time may
be used outside of these times to play in a competition. If all tee times are booked, then you should
place your name on the reserve list. The competition secretary should then be contacted to see if tee
times can be freed.
Other competitions will have tee times booked on the system but if these are full or do not meet
other commitments, then players may book at any time during the day. If players book their own tee
time, then they must sign into the competition (see below) on the day. All scores must be recorded
within a reasonable time on completion of the round or at the time indicated by the competition
committee.
No bookings will be made for A.N. Other, the booked members name must be used.
Play in individual events may only be in 2 balls or 3 balls.
All players must sign in either using the App, the terminal in the clubhouse or by telling the Pro Shop
before they play their round. It is the players responsibility to sign in before they play their round and
failure to do so will mean disqualification.
Entry fees, including 2’s and any sweeps etc, will be taken by the Pro Shop unless there is a registration
table or other system in place.
There will be some competitions that the iG cannot be used. Players should make
sure that they sign in and pay in the Pro Shop or registration desk.
All ties will be resolved using the tie breaker method in the policy statement below.
In the event of any dispute, the decision of the Competitions Committee will be final unless it chooses
to defer any decision to the Management Committee or Rules of Golf query to the R and A.

ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Players may enter competitions in one of three categories:
•Players who have played in three previous qualifying competitions during the year preceding
the date of the competition (these are the only players who qualify to win the competition)
•Players who have a handicap but have not played three qualifying competitions or who are
Lifestyle members (these players may still win vouchers or prizes).
•Players who are using the competition to attain a handicap qualifying card (these players will
not qualify for vouchers and will not pay an entry fee).
•Lifestyle members will not be eligible to play in the Club Championships, Seniors Club
Championship, or eligible for the trophy in the Spring Cup, Brown Cup, Clarke Cup, Alcombe
Cup, Grant Cup, Tarr Cup and Todd Cup. They are also not eligible to play in the Luttrell
Matchplay.
JUNIORS
Please note that the Rules and Regulations of the Club state that juniors may play in Club Competitions
with a member over the age of 18. There should be at least one member over the age of 18 playing
with a junior in any competition. Therefore, three juniors should not sign up on the start sheet to play
at the same tee time.
In team competitions at least one player should be a member over the age of 18.
Juniors may enter individual knockout competitions and play against another junior if drawn against
them.
SCORECARDS
When the iG App has been set up for the competition, scores should be entered
using this App or the screen in the clubhouse prior to returning the scorecard.
All scorecards should be signed by the marker and the player. In a 3-ball or 4-ball competition, the
card should be countersigned by another member of the team. Failure to do so may lead to
disqualification.
A scorecard will be deemed to be returned to the committee when it is placed into the competition
box in accordance with Rule 3.3. In Championships and Majors all cards must be returned within 20
minutes of the final group departing the 18th green. In an all-day competition, card must be returned
within a reasonable time or time or the time directed by the competition committee.
All score cards must be returned even if marked ‘Nil Return’ or ‘N/R’.
Players should realise that failure to follow these procedures makes the job of finalising the competition
and posting the result exceedingly difficult indeed. Persistent failure to follow the procedure may result
in disciplinary action.
Disqualifications during competitions shall be in accordance with the Rules of Golf and Competition
Rules.
